The much awaited family function of the engagement of our dearest jeevz n sandy!:)They are getting engaged on 2nd,december in Dubai at Movenpick hotel.As 2nd December is the National Day of Dubai,it is aholiday thus making it convenient for the invitees to attend the function!Movenpick hotel is just fifteen minutes from Dubai International Airport and the World Trade Centre,near major shopping malls and a short drive to Jumeirah Beach.

When Jeevz proposed,
And Sandy said 'yes',
It calls for celebration in a grand way,
And the best way to rejoice this special moment,
An engagement party is arranged,
On 2nd December,in Dubai,
And the venue is Movenpick hotel,Bur Dubai.
The transition of life from,
Being single to committed
Deserves an announcement,
Which should be done in a very special way!

Good Afternoon!
Today is an important day for all of us-GURUVAYOOUR EKADASHI!PARTHASARATHI DAY N GEETHA DAY!
I got up early morning and after the normal routine,I had Thulsi Theertham with bhasmam n chandanam[sandalwood paste].Tomorrow morning instead of Thulsi,I will take rice grains with theertham.then people visit Guruvayoor Temple to offer 'Dwadashi panam'[money to God].
today we are not supposed to have rice.many people do fast today.in GURUVAYOOR TEMPLE,kanji made out of wheat and puzhukku[thick gravy of yam n raw banana]will be offered as prasadam at noon.
the previous day of any religious festival I clarify the doubts with my Amma n send mail to my people reminding them about the important rituals.[a prctice since long.....]:)
Morning I went to Sree Ayyappa Temple and could attend usha pooja[morning pooja].since yesterday there is grand Annadanam in the temple n hundreds of people have the feast from Temple.there is a medical camp arranged by the management committe tomorrow at 9 a.m conducted by Rotract club.then I went to Sri Damodar Temple and a big photo of LORD GURUVAYOORAPPAN is kept there.we don't have Krishna temples in this harbour town n I miss having darshan of Lord Krishna!
I must thank my dear friend,Krish for this wonderful forward on Ekadashi!
Amma used to make us chant the shlokas of BHAGVATH GEETHA daily in the morning!there are shloka chanting competitions now.A big bhagavat Geetha was gifted to me by my Achan n Amma.I still have it.these days in the mornings, I somehow find time to listen to the BHAGAVATHA SAPTHAHAM by Udith Chitanyaji.[Nanda is my source of inspiration].today there is a grand programme in the muncipal hall in Guruvayoor on BHAGAVAT GEETHA in the evening .in Trichur Nanda takes me to the venues of satsang.Achan always used to chant 'OM NAMO BHAGAVATE VASUDEVAYA!still the chants echo in my ears.

"EKADASI" is a highly auspicious day dedicated to Lord Vishnu on the eleventh day of every lunar fortnight in traditional Hindu calendar. There are 24 Ekadasis in a year and the Vrishchika Ekadasi (Suklapaksha) has got special significance in Guruvayur. Ekadashi that falls in the waxing phase of moon in the Malayalam month Vrishchikam (November – December) is observed as" Guruvayur Ekadasi" in the world famous Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple in Kerala – the abode of Guruvayurappan.

Gita Jayanti, also referred as Bhagawad Geetha Jayanthi, is the day when the Bhagvad Gita was rendered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the Kurukshetra on the first day of the famous 18-day battle in the Mahabharata. Gita Jayanthi falls on the Ekadashi day of Shukla Paksha (the bright half) of the Margashirsha month (November-December) in traditional Hindu calendar. In 2009, the date of Gita Jayanti is on November 28.

Bhagvad Gita is the compilation of the teachings of Lord Krishna. This Bhagvad Geeta (Song of the Blessed Lord) contains profound ideas on many issues

touching on the temporal and non-temporal aspects of life.

The greatness of Bhagavad Gita that no other scriptures in this universe can match is her teachings of acquiring the way towards the Supreme without abandoning the worldly affairs, through the methods of Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Bhakti Yoga.

The greatest quality of Bhagavad Gita is that it prompts you to think, it prompts you to take decision, and it prompts you to look your individual at life differently and refreshingly and all this without surrendering your invidulaty.

Lord Krishna lived his life by his own famous saying, which can be translated in English, as "Thy right is to work only, but never with its fruits;let not the fruits of action be thy motive, nor let thy attachment be to inaction."

The Gita Mahatmya mentions manifold benefits for those who chant the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Sri Krishna himself has give numerous assurances to his devotees in the Gita that his devotees will never perish or come to harm.

The ideal way to celebrate Gita Jayanti is by reading at least a stanza from the Bhagavad Gita.

So do Complete Surrender to God, as in this way you shall be free of all tensions of life & shall be at peace & be happy during all walks of life. Below verse of Bhagwat Gita teaches the same.

“sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva-papebhyo
mokshayisyami ma suchah"

(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 66).
"Sri Krishna said: O Arjuna, Surrender unto Me alone. By surrendering all duties to Me, seek refuge in Me. I shall absolve you of all sins; grieve not."

Be pure. Be virtuous. Be sincere. Apply yourself with firm faith and strength of will. Yield not to beguilements and threats. Move on forward with confidence and determination. You shall succeed in achieving life's Supreme Goal. The Grace of the Almighty is ever with you.

Peace be to you all! May the mighty Grace of Lord Sri Krishna flow through your hearts and prepare you for the memorable regeneration in the Spiritual Consciousness!

Today is the 33rd death anniversary of the famous elephant of Lord Guruvayoorappan,Keshavan.years before on the day of Ekadashi,lying down with the trunk towards the shrine of Guruvayoor Temple,the famous elephant breathed its last.there is a statue of the elephant in the south nada of the Temple.yesterday,on Dashami day,after the pooja of the elephants n feeding them,twentyfive elephants held a procession n the elephant called Padmanabhan garlanded the statue of Guruvayoor Keshavan.Amma has written about the last moments of Keshavan in one of her poems.about Ekadashi also poem is written by Amma.

Today is 26th November,and I want to pay my respects n love to all the great souls who are in our memories forever.it's difficult to think of the terrific attacks in Mumbai.I join the dear n near ones to pray for the peace of departed souls.they have sacrificed their precious lives for others to be alive!what a great mission!

The festival Bakrid is celebrated all over Gulf countries n in Kerala tomorrow on 27th November ,Friday.
the festival of sacrifice is celebrated on the tenth day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijja.Id-ul-Zuha also called Id-ul-Adha in Arabic and Bak-Id in the Indian subcontinent because of the tradition of sacrificing a goat or 'bakr'in Urdu.the word 'Id' derived from the Arabic'iwd'means festival and zuha comes from 'uzhaiyya' which translates to sacrifice.
On this day Muslims sacrifice a goat or bakr[Urdu]to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim,who willingly agreed to kill his son at the behest of God.it is a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his son for God's sake.it also marks the completion of Haj[pilgrimage to Mecca].Ibrahim decided to sacrifice his son Ismail,at Mina,near Mecca.as the great religious leader was on the point of applying the sword to the throat of his dear son,it was revealed to him that the exercise was merely a test of his faith in Allah and that he could sacrifice a ram instead.
Eid-AL-Adha occurs the day after the pilgrims conducting Hajj,the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by Muslims worldwide,descend from Mount Arafat.it happens to be approximately seventy days after the end of the month of Ramdan.
On this day,special 'Dua'is recited by thousands of Muslims for peace and prosperity.the day also coincides with the day the holy Quran was declared complete.
prayers are offered in the mosques and the sacrificial meat is then distributed after the Id prayers.special delicacies are prepared and served among family and friends on this happy occasion.
it is atime of family get togethers.
Allahu Akbar which means God is Great will eb echoed in all Musilm houses.early morning they rise up and after having bath,all of them will gather in mosques where the Imam recites prayers and gives taks on how to go on with the commandments of God and lead a holy life like Ibrahim.Muslims prepare mouth watering meals,visit the dear and near ones,cracking jokes,laughing wholeheartedly,enjoy dancing and singing.
here, we celebrate the festival on 28th,November-Saturday.
Bakrid is a festival of great rejoice.exchange of greetings and gifts make people excited.the festival of sacrifice is celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in India.giving n receiving gifts make us so excited!
promoting brotherhood and affection to the fellow people and showing the gratitude towards God that is what all Muslim celebrations bring about.
on this occasion of celebrations,I remember,my colleague, Rasheeda, her enthusiasm,her lively spirits,the energy filled dances n her creativity,her long silky hair,the pink rose on her hair,the sweet smile n I do think about her often who is no more with us today.she had left us on one 27th,November years before.it was an untimely departure of a wonderful person from her family n friends.

Good Evening!the week began with heavy work and I am learning the lesson again n again-a stich in time saves nine.still I could not finish my pending work.it's fine.but I must chat with you,sharing my experiences n happenings.:)I missed the 84th birthday of Sree Sathya Saibaba which was on 23rd November,Monday.I feel guilty.My parents had been to Puttaparthi,years back to have the darshan of Sree Sathya Saibaba.A great n noble holy person who has done a lot of self service by making the drinking water possible to millions of people.
The 40thInternational Film Festival of India began at a glittering ceremony,inaugurated by the veteran actress of yesteryears,Waheeda Rahman,in the presence of the Union Minister for information and Broadcasting,Ms.Ambika Soni,Chief Minister.Shri Digambar Kamat and popular actor Nana Patekar and other film personalities.the show staretd a few minutes late at the Dinanath Mangaeshkar auditorium at Panaji's Kala Academy.
Glamour was added to the inugural session by the actress Asin,as well as the two anchors Kabir Bedi and Divya Dutta.Waheeda Rahman has defied teh ravages of age with her upright stride and true embodiment of timeless beauty.Asin has the fabulous looks,immense talent and very composed.she is born in a catholic family in Kerala.also present on the occasion were film personalities like performers,Nandita Das,directors,Gurinder Chadha and Muzaffer Ali;music directors,Anandji and Ravi,among others.
IFFI is an important event in the International Calendar.
A dance performance by the troupe of the noted Bharatnatyam dancer,Leela Samson.a spectacular ballet titled 'Charisnu'[Desire to move] was presented .A well choreographed rendition of classical dance forms from Tamil Nadu,Manipur,Kerala and Gujarat presented by the Kalashetra troupe rntertained teh audience. an opening festival film 'Wheat' followed the festival opening.the 11th -day journey into the world of silver screen has commenced,with over 200 films slated to be screened in more than 20 categories.
As celebrities walked the red carpet to the tunes of Portuguese songs,'Cadi zaza','Mama eu quero' and other tunes played in gusto by a traditional band at the inaugural ceremony of IFFI on MONDAY.
IFFI should be ranked the best and the most admired film festivals in India.Goa apart from being a permanent venue of the IFFI, has also developed film culture and teh recent films produced in the state have even gone to win national awards.
around 63 establishments have tied up with the IFFI Panjim Film Festival.as the International Film Festival of India gets underway,like every year,it brings a bouquet of films that has something for everyone.the mood for IFFI has just set in.the streets of Panaji are alight.as the sun set in the horizon,over the Mandovi river,younsters and people of all ages got together to enjoy the night away.Not only this,the stunning ESG building,decorated with bright and dazling lights looked marvellous and got many tow ait and capture it,lenses or not.the ramp went on from the ESG building right up to the Kala Academy.

It is a wonderful season here.but I am trying to meet with the much demanding job and programmes.tomorrow there is an unexpected party to attend,the silver wedding anniversary of our friends.but don't expect a post on this.:)

AN EXCITING EVENING..........................

WHEN MY DREAMS WERE AWAKEN......

Dear Friends,
Good evening!I was busy and am still busy,unable to manage time between work,blogs,friends and social commitments.but I feel uneasy n restless being away from blogging.so,by the end of the day,keeping my work aside, I am here with you sharing my experiences n feelings.:)
yesterday was another reception held at Flint Stone,Chicalim.shinoj and stella got married on 15th November in Mumbai and reception was held yesterday.shinoj is in merchant navy and stella works for an airlines.last week's couple arun and bindu were also there.
A party on the previous night of a working day is really difficult but certain occasions are unavoidable.i wore a coffee brown saree with golden jerry border.the saree had a beautiful golden pallu and golden dots on the body.with eyeliner,big round coffee colour bindi,lip gloss and pearl set my make up was done.after two three years i was wearing this saree yesterday and i really felt confident n walked around holding my head high,meeting friends!you feel satisfied with the second glances you receive!:)
the rain had stopped since two days or else the party would have been a mess being held in the open air.the couples were wearing stunning suit and silver and gold mixed gagra choli.they had just reached from Mumbai by noon, but looked fresh in high spirits n romantic.being born n brought up in a metropolitan city like mumbai,stella looked confident and smart.she had a very sweet smile.a real modern beauty!i love people with grace and confidence enriching their personality.

with parents and relatives escorting them.
with a loud applause,the invitees,
welcomed the newly wedded couple.
the cake was cut by the couples,
and they fed each other with a big piece,
another cake was cut by shinoj's father,
whose birthday was just a week ago.
couples were introduced to the audience,
by a family friend of many years.
Champagne bottle was opened,
And a toast was raised.
invitees were many from,
all fields of the society,
they stood in a line to wish the couple,
and the live music was begun!
the gentleman sang the hit numbers,
in different languages.
i was enjoying the party,
Their joyful chatter ran in endless flow,
and the dance that was going on!
stella's relatives from gujarat were on their toes,
and surprisingly,stella danced the best!
shinoj was with the group
but the centre of attraction was the bride!
the way she danced putting her heart and soul,
everyone enjoyed the beauty of the movements
It was so tempting to join the group,
To shake the legs as I was always the first one,
Joining any group encouraging n inspiring,
But these days,i control my feelings,
And just becomes a spectator!:)
the songs sent its invitation to me,
and the dreams were awaken.
the fences of my life's course may bar the way,
but i don't have to pay taxes for my dreams!:)
love was flowing in the air,
and in such an atmosphere i am always lost!
In my mind's eye,I see all day long!
the face that I long to see,
The fragrance of the countless words,
have been set free without sound!
I know love grows,each time we give it away.
You have gifted me the precious moments,

SWAMI SARANAM!AYYAPPA SARANAM!

Good Evening!
Today,the auspicious month,mandala season started.
the month of Vrischikam when the mornings are cool with mist.early morning I got up to get ready to go to Sree Ayyappa Temple.the roads were wet.it rained the previous night.the temple is only twenty minutes drive away from home.I didn't want to miss the wonderful feelings that I get after a morning temple darshan.
a season of Lord Ayyappa!a season of equality,brotherhood and oneness among all.my mind was saying the prayers,
''Boothanatha sadananda,
Sarvabhootha dayapara,
Raksha raksha mahabaho,
Sasthrethubhyam namo namah!''

Ayyappa is born out of the union between Mohini[Vishnu] and Shiva.the most famous Ayyappa temple in India is the one at Sabarimala.over fifty million devotees visiting here every year make it the second largest pilgrimage in the world.the mantra 'Thatwamasi' welcomes the devotees in Sabarimala.Amma has written an article on Thatwasmi.it means,'Thou art that'.to explain further,there is only one eternity blissful and that One is manifesting itself in all varities.there is a popular narration,that is a man once happened to mistake his own heartbeat.hearing someone knocking at the door he opened it but seeing nobody he came back.he again heard the knocking but when he opened the door he saw nobody.this continued a number of times until at last the truth flashed his mind that his own heartbeat was misinterpreted and that the Reality was within himself.man becomes God.
A pilgrim attending the Mandala pooja should observe austerities for forty one days.during this period,the pilgrim should abstain himself from non vegetarian habits and carnal pleasures.unlike certain Hindu temples,Sabarimala temple has no restrictions of cast or creed.the temple is open to males of all age groups and to women who have either passed their fertility age and those before reaching the stage of puberty.
a pilgrim should not shave or use alcoholic drinks.he/she should not lose temper.it's a season of sacrifice.mental strength grows n the mind fills with devotion.
My Achan[Father] used to go to Sabarimala,the famous abode of Lord Ayyappa on the hill top.the memories of the chants of Swami Saranam still echo in my ears.Ayyappan Vilakku was held in my Achan's house.we had a devotional atmosphere,and sandhya nama japam [evening prayers] was a must.
The annual Mandala-Makaravilakku Mahotsavam held at Ayyappa Temple commences from today.the first day of the Mandala season witnessed a Shodasabhishekam for Lord Ayyappa followed by an Ashtadravya Ganapathy Homam.right from small children to old people were already present in the temple to witness the Abhishekam.the temple looked beautiful with marigold flower strands and lighted lamps.the chants of SWAMIYE SARANAMAYYAPPA echoed everywhere.I was in a different world.I could attend Abhishekam,Ashtadravya Ganapathy Homam and Usha pooja.I missed ashtapathi,the beautiful devotional song sung at the time of ushapooja and deeparadhana.
years back,it was on such a Mandala season that a handful of Ayyappa devotees in and around Mangor hills joined their hands and started to conduct Ayyappa pooja at a place available with a photo of Lord Ayyappa.keeping in mind to have a proper organised approach,this small group formed the Ayyappa Seva Samithi in the year 1978.we,the pravasis reach this auspicious and wonderful premises of Lord Ayyappa seeking peace and happiness.
hundreds of Ayyappa devotees who will be starting their fortyone day Mandala vritham prior to their pilgrimage to the famous Sabarimala Temple on the hill tops of the western Ghats in Kerala accepted the Mudramala' in front of the Sreekovil of the temple.the festivities include special pujas,Abhishekams,Annadanam,Swami Bhojan and various cultural programmes will go on till January 14,2010,which is Makaravilakku day.the Mandala Makaravilakku festivities will be inaugurated today evening at 7.30 p.m at a function that will be held at temple premises.Speaker will be the chief guest at the function.this will be followed by a cultural programme presented by the Ayyappa Seva Samithi.
here,everyone feels happy to have a temple nearby and they make it a point to visit temple on most of the days.at times of stress and confusions we run to the lotus feet of Lord Ayyappan.
I am happy that the day was good with the darshan of Lord Ayyappan.

After the showers,the atmosphere is really cool.Thanks for your support and goodwill for sharing your views in the form of comments on the last posts.
In this hectic life where we run around blaming,there is no time for anything and to reach our own dear and near ones,I felt the urge to share this forwarded mail with you.by the end of the last line,my cheeks were wet and heart was melt.may I hope the same with you?take time,my dear friends as I don't want you to miss out a single word!




One fine day, an old couple around the age of 70, walks into a lawyer's office.
Apparently, they are there to file a divorce.

Lawyer was very puzzled, after having a chat with them, he got their
story....This couple had been quarreling all their 40 over yrs of marriage
nothing ever seems to go right.

They hang on because of their children, afraid that it might affect their
up-bringing. Now, all their children have already grown up, have their own
family, there's nothing else the old couple have to worry about, all they
wanted is to lead their own life free from all these years of unhappiness from
their marriage, so both agree on a divorce....Lawyer was having a hard time trying to get the papers done, because he felt
after 40 yrs that of marriage at the age of 70, he couldn't understand why the old couple would still want a divorce.. While they were signing the papers, the wife told the husband..
"ner together, just 3 of them,wife thought, why not, since
they are still gonna be friends..

At the dining table, there was a silence of awkwardness.

The first dish was roasted chicken, immediately, the old man took the drumstick
for the old lady.."take this, its your favorite.."

Looking at this, the lawyer thought maybe there is still a chance, but the wife
was frowning whenhis is always the problem, you always think so highly of yourself, never
thought about how I feel, don't you know that i hate drumsticks?"

Little did she know that, over the years, the husband have been trying all ways
to please her, little did she know that drumsticks was the husband's favorite.
Little did he know that she never thought he understand her at all, little did
he know that she hates drumsticks even though all he wants is the best for her.

That night, both of them couldn't sleep, toss and turn, toss and turn...after
hours, the old man couldn't take it anymore, he knows that he still loves her,
and he cant carry on life without her, he wants her back, he wants to tell her,
he is sorry, he wanted to tell her "i love you"...
He picks up the phone, starting dialing her number....ringing never stops..he
never stop dialing....

On the other side, she was sad, she couldn’t understand how come after all
these years, he still doesn't understand her at all, she loves him a lot, but
she just cant take it anymore....phone' s ringing, she refuses to answer
knowing that its him..."whats the point of talking now that its over...i
have ask for it and now i wanna keep it this way, if not i will lose
face.."she thought...still ringing...she have decided to pull out the
cord...

Little did she remember, he have heart problems... The next day, she received news that he had passed away...she rushed down to his apartment, saw his body, lying on the couch still holding on to the phone...he had a heart attack when he was still trying to get through her phone line.... As sad as she could be...she will have to clear his belongings.. .when she was looking through the drawers, she saw this insurance policy, dated from the day they got married, with the beneficiary being her... And together in those file, there was this note... "To my dearest wife, by the time you're reading this, I'm sure I'm no longer around, I bought this policy for you, though the amount is only $100k, I hope it will be able to help me continue my promise that i have made when we got married, I might not be around anymore, I want this amount of money to continue taking care of you, just like the way I will if I could have live longer. I want you to know I will always be around, by your side... " I LOVE YOU SWEET HEART" Tears flowed like river......

But then entire populace of young ones that are left ignored this special day are the downtrodden street children. sad fact is that,only a section of the country's children have an opportunity to celebrate this day.let's do our share of showing kindness and causing a smile to the less fortunate!let children enjoy and live life to the fullest!childhood should not be a burden or nightmare!There are special kids with special needs.they have special schools where the children develop their social and individual skills and feels recognised.These children are physically or mentally differently abled requiring special needs.such children have emotions just like you and me.some are exceptionally talented too in music,sports and art.fFriends,let us be more sensitive and understanding of teh world of children with special needs.I used to attend their cultural programme and their talents make me humble.if you come across such children,who are not enrolled in a school,tell their parents about the special schools.let the kids cherish their childhood!:)
